In light of Covid-19, I have decided to offer a few, limited walk-n-talk therapy sessions as an alternative.
What’s walk-n-talk therapy?
Walk-n-talk therapy takes your sessions outdoors to a public park or other quiet walk ways. This alternative provides a new approach by infusing the therapeutic qualities of nature, fresh air and exercise into our counseling or consulting sessions. Being physically active through walking can make it easier for some clients to talk about their feelings, problems, thoughts and even help with generating insights or solutions. And we know that the endorphins (feel good chemicals in our brains) that are produced during exercise are good for mental health and well-being. So it's like a double benefit.
Is walk-n-talk therapy right for me?
I consider each individual client, their physical, as well as mental health and their specific needs. It may be a good alternative for a client who is uncomfortable with telehealth sessions, exhibits a lot of excess energy during sessions, or for those who feel uneasy with maintaining direct eye contact.
If you are interested, give me a call!
(Cash paying clients only, as it is generally not reimbursable by insurances. I am only able to offer walk-n-talk therapy to female clients. Social distancing and observing of current local guidelines, such as wearing of masks, will be discussed and practiced.)
